Code of Conduct
The City of Richmond has established a Code of Conduct to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, including presenters, staff and volunteers. All participants are responsible for conducting themselves in a respectful and considerate manner, and we ask that you uphold the following expectations:
- Choose kind and respectful language: When engaging with others in the Chat or during the Q&A period, choose respectful speech and behaviour, even if you disagree with someone else’s viewpoint;
- Be open-minded and embrace discomfort: You may encounter topics or ideas that are new to you and uncomfortable to talk about. Recognize that this is often part of the learning process and stay open-minded;
- Attempt collaboration before conflict: Aim to understand different points of view and remove judgements before challenging others’ ideas; and
- Hold yourself and others accountable: If and when you feel the Code of Conduct has been violated, please message the ‘Host’ in the Chat box function.
The City of Richmond does not tolerate harassment of participants and speakers in any form and may take any action it deems appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the online session.
Thank you for doing your part in fostering a safe and welcoming Diversity Symposium.
