Severe WeatherHigh winds, extreme heat, heavy rain, hail, and snow storms can develop quickly and hit hard, posing a threat to life and property. Severe weather cannot be prevented, however, some damage can be avoided or reduced if you take some simple precautions.
During severe weather events the City will be working to prevent damage, restore services that may be impacted by events, and preserve essential services where possible. First responders will be ensuring services are able to be delivered as required and responding to requests for assistance.
If you experience a serious incident during a weather event (e.g. threat to life), take the following steps:
- If you are not already, get to a safe place. Do not underestimate the strength and rapidly changing nature of weather events
- Once you are sure you are safe, contact 9-1-1 if the incident becomes life threatening.
