Rideau Park Elementary School (1978-2003) was built to serve the student population of the Rideau subdivision (south of Francis and east of No. 3 Roads) and thus the name. However, the name Rideau has deep roots in our nation’s capital - Rideau Hall, Rideau Canal.

The school was closed in 2003 because of School District financial constraints and a projected declining enrolment. The school continues to be used by School District 38 as a Continuing Education Centre.
